Sunday Night Campmeeting

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Before I get started I want to say to those of you who have never been to a Pentecostal church, please stay with me and hear me out. I promise not to sound too far out in left field. :)

Last night we had a wonderful church service, you could feel the presence of the Lord surrounding us. It was so beautiful, it felt like a little bit of heaven had come down.

The above scripture lets us know that it doesn't have to be a large crowd for the Lord to show up, we just have to be on the same page. The art of worshipping the Lord is a beautiful thing, sometimes we have to put our hands up in surrender to the Lord, sometimes all it takes is the simple act of humbly speaking Jesus' name and forgetting the cares of your life for a few moments. When we call HE WILL SHOW UP, Jeremiah 29:12 tells us "Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you." That in itself is enough to make me cry, to think that the God of all creation cares enough for me to come when I call.

I am a stay at home mom, that home schools her sons and most days I think I'm a pretty dull person, but when I read scripture like that it makes me feel incredible. It makes me know my Father loves me. Why wouldn't I want to thank Him, worship Him and tell Him how much I love Him?

If you have never experienced the peace that comes from worshipping the Lord why not try it now. You don't have to be in a church, just slow down and give the Lord a little of your time. I think that you will be amazed. :)

Have a worshipful day!

Sunday

Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Every Sunday since a baby, I have been going to church. I was never the child that was stuck on the friendly neighborhood bus that took me to church. I was taken by my mom and dad, I remember very few times we missed church. It was instilled in me that we had 6 days during the week to do what we needed to do and then Sunday was the Lord's. I won't say I have been to every Sunday service because there are times that have come up when I was sick and didn't make it but I have been more times than not.

When I was growing up I remember Sunday being a quiet day, there was lunch at home and then a nap. For years I thought "thou shalt take thy Sunday afternoon nap" was in the Bible somewhere....maybe it was just in my mom's. :) All I know was at the age of 25...Mom still thought I needed that nap. Now that I'm a "little" older I long for the days of the Sunday aftermoon nap, before heading back to the evening service.

If you are reading this and haven't been to church in a while, why not think about it this week and when Sunday gets here, go to church. I think you will find that when you put God first in your life, other things will just fall into place for you. Then when you come home, prop your feet up and take a little nap. I promise you will feel so much better, in fact you just might want to do it again next week.

Have a wonderful week,

Teresa

Black Friday

Matthew 6:19-21
19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Black Friday is the biggest sale day of the year...people rushing around, waiting in long lines, and shelling out their money for things that by next year (or before) will be long forgotten. Got to get that perfect gift for everyone on your Christmas list, we have all done it one time or another. I haven't gone out today, I have gotten to the point I hate crowds. LOL!

Today kicks off the Christmas season, the season that is supposed to celebrate the birth of the King of Kings, the holy child that was born in a stable and laid in a manger. Somehow I don't think the Christmas season of today was what God had in mind when we celebrate His son's birthday. When the wisemen brought Jesus their gifts it was in adoration of Him, now it could be just me, but knocking someone down in your rush to have the lastest gadget at the best price is not exactly bringing glory to Jesus. :)

The above scripture points out that we should be putting up our treasures in Heaven not here on earth...the things here on earth are only for a short time...even the lastest electronic item will be a thing of the past in a few months. So this year instead of driving yourself crazy shopping for the next 'big thing" that "junior" just cannot live without, why not stop and think about the real reason for the season..Jesus...the treasure that will never be outdated.

Thanks for stopping by,

Teresa

Thanksgiving 2011

Revelation 7
11And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

As I was looking for some scripture to share on here for Thanksgiving I came across this passage from Revelation. I know I have read this over and over through the years at different times but this time it really caught my attention. This scripture describes to us how the angels worship and glorify God, and I think we should take notice of that and do the same. They came with blessings and thanksgiving. Even when we are going through the toughest times of our lives there is always something we can be thankful for.

In February 1999 I had to have surgery to remove a tumor from the side of my head, then in March and April my oldest son had to have surgery on his sinuses, then in June my dear husband collapsed in church and had to be taken to the hospital, only to find out later that week he had cancer. You might say what could you possibly have to be thankful for? Well the tumor I had could have been cancer, in fact the neurosurgeon thought that it was. but it turned out to be benign. Then the cancer my husband had could have been a lot worse, it was caught in the early stages. God is so good.

I thank the Lord my husband is still cancer free, I thank the Lord for his job, I thank the Lord I still have my 84 year old mother with me. I thank the Lord for my two sons, and I thank the Lord for the rest of my family, a sister that I cherish, 2 wonderful brothers and lots of nieces and nephews. I thank the Lord for the church that I attend and for our pastor and his lovely wife. I thank the Lord for lots of friends He has blessed me with. The list could go on and on, if I kept on writing I'm sure I could never come to the end of all of God's blessings on my life.

Before I close I want to add a poem I wrote a few years ago, hopefully it will make you laugh.
Thank You Lord

I got of bed this morning, feeling pretty good
I put my feet upon the floor, on my legs I stood.
I walked into the bathroom and in the mirror looked
I took a second glance and said Wow, you look good.
I had to take a moment and really think this through.
How could this be possible? I'm way past twenty two.
Then it hit me, I know the reason why!
I have a great big secret; I've been given eternal life.
When the load of sin I carried was finally washed away
Jesus love came in and the ugly was gone to stay.
What a happy moment, my face began to shine
All the cares and worries of life I suddenly left behind.
Thank you Lord I love you so, you have been so great,
And now when people look at me I won't ever hesitate
To tell what a wonderful Lord you are and all that you can do
And maybe they'll come to know you Lord and get a face lift too!
Thank You Lord

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Thanksgiving Eve

Good Morning
Today is beautiful here in West Columbia, SC. The sun is peeking out  and the weather is just perfect, the high is suppose to be 73. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day, mine is going to be very busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. I have already made a Brownie Pecan Pie, and as soon as I finish posting this I am going to make the icing for my 12 layer chocolate cake. Then on to cooking my collards, and making my pecan pies and my ooey gooey lemon squares. If you haven't guessed by now I am the goodie baker for the family. LOL!

I hope everyone (right now it's only you and me Diana hehehe) has a wonderfully blessed day. Don't forget to count your blessings and thank the Lord for all He has done. In closing let me add  a Psalm that blesses me everytime I think of it.

Psalm 34

1I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

The LORD kept reminding me of this scripture during the time my brother was laying in a coma and we didn't know if or when he would awake. Every time I would have doubtful thoughts I would repeat this scripture, over and over. After nine days he woke up, GOD IS SO GOOD! One day I'll go into more details about what happened, but for now I'll say this...GOD still performs miracles.

Have a blessed day,

Teresa

First Thoughts...

Today is the first day of my blog, so bear with me as I'm very new at it. When I was trying to think of a name for it, I wanted come up with something profound, but at 1:00am it's a little hard to be profound. So "Teresa's Thoughts For Today" is as close to profound as I could get. LOL!

When I was creating  this blog, I was thinking I wanted it to be something that is God approved. If you have read my profile, or if you know me personally, you know I truly love the Lord. As a small child I knew He had called me into His service. My mom always told me that one of my first words was "piano". I started taking lessons at the age of five and continued until sixteen. At the age of twelve I started playing in church, at first it was very scary, but it didn't take long for me to know that was where I was supposed to be. And I have been playing for church services for many years now and I have loved everyone of them.

I don't want this to be all about me today, so I am going to close with a scripture that came to mind when I was creating this blog;

Isaiah 55:6-13
6Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call you on him while he is near:
7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said the LORD.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

I love that passage, I highlighted the verses that really stood out to me. I especially liked verse twelve, I pray that will happen for all that have stopped by today.

Joy and Peace to you,

Teresa
